I only make dumplings sometimes, but I noticed the cold-water wrappers were easier to seal when the filling was wet. The hot-water dough was nicer to roll and softer to eat, but it tore when I got impatient.
This may be a skill issue. The dumpling did not consult the recipe before exposing it.

A small EQ cut around the boomy range can help a lot.
Yeah, small rooms punish boomy stuff fast. Anything with clear vocals and not a giant low end usually holds up better
