September 2, 2026 at 2:13 pm #5001Brewer and filter: Bialetti Moka Express 3-cup; stock metal basket
Grinder, burr and calibration: Timemore C3; S2C conical burr; 18 clicks
Bean, roaster, process and roast date: Brazil Fazenda Ambiental Fortaleza; April Coffee; natural; roast date 2026-08-06
Dose and water mass: 20.0 g coffee; 340 g water
Temperature and water profile: 93°C; remineralized RO, about 60 ppm GH / 25 ppm KH
Pour/agitation schedule: 70 g bloom for 40 s, then three pours; no stirring after bloom
Drawdown time: 2:50
Expected and perceived flavour: expected caramel and stone fruit; perceived cup is sweet but slightly muddy
Changes already tested: reduced agitation; kept dose, water and temperature fixedThis is a real purchase question, not an invitation to name every product in the category. I care about the workflow in the title and would love reports from people who lived with both options.

I had both on the counter at the same time. In blind cups the gap was smaller than the internet had prepared me for. Cleanup, noise and how often I had to correct the setting mattered more by month three.

Owned both for more than six months. The difference that survived the honeymoon was workflow, not cup quality. One is easier to repeat when half awake; the other gives more room to fiddle. I kept the simpler one.

I only own one of the two, so weight this below the dual-owner reports. Mine has been consistent and easy to clean, but I cannot tell you whether the other one would be better in the same kitchen.

The important constraint here is counter space. The technically better option is not better if it lives in a cupboard.
