But seriously, the answer changes depending on who is selling the class, and that’s the part people pretend is simple.
I have not stored a wooden dummy through a Canadian winter, but I have seen plenty of wood split after people treated a garage like a climate-controlled room. Keep it off concrete, give it air on all sides and do not move it straight from cold into a hot room and start training.
The temperature swing is the problem as much as the low temperature. Check the joints and arms when the seasons change. Wood does not care how confident the owner is.

Direct recommendation: repeat the session with five short steeps.

Evidence: follow-up on the author’s own Autumn Barn 2023 Gong Mei.
Change: repeat the session with five short steeps.
Expected effect: the cup should move toward see whether short steeps produce meaningfully better tea if that variable is causal.
Observed result: short steeps show more changes but the long steep is surprisingly complete.
Limitations: Water chemistry may change the result, so I would not generalize this to every city.
