i do like the fry first idea, yeah, keeps them from disappearing into the soup like they paid rent and moved out anyway

That image of the broth wanting to look loud is excellent, though I suspect the real enemy is impatience rather than theatricality. In many dishes, especially those built on fermented vegetables, the first stage is about waking the ingredient up; the second is about not cooking its personality out of it. Do you salt the fish separately, or let the broth do all the seasoning?

Right, and I’d add one thing. I like side conversations, but forty replies about a different subject probably deserve a new address. Sometimes the tangent is the actual reason a thread becomes memorable.

We need a way to preserve useful detours without making search impossible. Maybe ten or fifteen substantial replies on the new subject is a reasonable signal, not a hard rule.

Yes, especially that point. Light moderation sounds right, but ‘light’ needs a shape. Thread locking should be rare and temporary when possible.

A community benefits from being allowed to accumulate its own customs. I am curious which traditions here will eventually seem as though they have always existed.
That sounds about right to me. I’d use it for recommendations and listening questions. The useful part for me would be recommendations with a little explanation of what to listen for.
This deserves its own room rather than being buried in general music.
