Change: repeat the session with 60 and 90 ml.
Expected effect: the cup should move toward pick a practical daily size if that variable is causal.
Observed result: not tested on this exact setup yet.

Observed result: 90 ml is easiest balance of handling, heat and leaf cost.
Limitations: I would stop if the change removes the aroma you are trying to preserve.

I had that with a cheap phone charger once. The light was fine, the cable was the real criminal.
In the end I just bought a thicker one and stopped pretending the bargain bin was a strategy.

Inference only: because the symptom is repeatable and your listed tests already rule out some obvious causes, I would suspect the narrowest remaining mechanical/setup path before a board-level failure. I would not buy a part from that inference alone.
Every new place has a period where nobody knows which cupboard contains the cups. We’ll survive.
