At this point the Breville Barista Express BES870 has more accessories than my car

This is where a cheap measurement beats another theory. Record the same test twice before and twice after the change.

Short answer: Start with the simple reproducible test before buying parts.
Applies to which model/revision: Breville Barista Express BES870.
Likely cause: The symptom points first to a setup, wear-part or calibration issue that can be separated from a major failure.
Test to perform next: Return one variable to a known reference, repeat twice, and record whether the symptom changes in the same direction.
Expected result: If that subsystem is the cause, the symptom should change predictably rather than randomly.
Safety limit: Stop if mains voltage, exposed wiring, a pressurized hot boiler, repeated GFCI trips or an unknown leak path is involved. Unplug, cool fully and use qualified service.
Evidence: First-hand owner experience with the same model/configuration; not a manufacturer diagnosis.

            Same tea/batch
Direct recommendation: repeat the session with 2:30.
Applies to: Desk Cloud 2026 Dong Ding / Taiwan oolong in a setup close to 350 ml glass mug.
Evidence: firsthand use of the same Desk Cloud 2026 Dong Ding in a closely matched setup.
Change: repeat the session with 2:30.
Expected effect: the cup should move toward repeatable decent tea without gongfu gear if that variable is causal.
Observed result: not tested on this exact setup yet.
Limitations: If your actual filled volume differs from the stated volume, the ratio may be the bigger issue.
            Commercial relationship: none.

Short answer: Start with the simple reproducible test before buying parts.
Applies to which model/revision: Profitec GO 2025.
Safety limit: Do not chase the shot with unsafe pressure/temperature modifications; return to stock limits if diagnosis becomes uncertain.
Evidence: First-hand owner experience with the same model/configuration; not a manufacturer diagnosis.

                Long-term report
Direct recommendation: weigh the actual filled water once.
Applies to: Apricot Grove 2025 Ya Shi Xiang / Phoenix dancong in a setup close to porcelain gaiwan.
Evidence: firsthand long-term use of one side of the comparison.
Change: weigh the actual filled water once.
Expected effect: your ratio will become comparable with other reports.
Observed result: not tested on this exact setup yet.
Limitations: I would stop if the change removes the aroma you are trying to preserve.
                Commercial relationship: none.

The DF64 Gen 2 / Niche Zero makes sense if you value repeatable adjustment and can live with its workflow. I would not buy it just because the burr size is easier to brag about.

I would choose for the workflow you actually described, not the machine that wins a feature spreadsheet. With the Profitec GO 2025, warm-up, milk workflow and cleanup would decide it for me.

If four milk drinks are normal, test the whole sequence in your head: grind, dose, brew, steam, purge, repeat. A small delay becomes a personality trait by drink four.

Vendor relationships absolutely need disclosure. A free sample can still produce a useful report; pretending it was an ordinary purchase is the problem.

Can we postpone mandatory photographs? Helpful, yes. Mandatory every time, no. Sometimes I am asking from work and the wet leaf is already in a bin.

Exactly. Shoes do the same scam and expect gratitude.

Right, and the fan trick is safer if the gloves have any synthetic backing.

Heat plus trapped moisture can get weird fast.

How thick are the gloves and do they have a waterproof liner? That changes the answer a lot, and the wrong heat can wreck the grip.

Surface dry is the most misleading status message.
