July 24, 2026 at 10:13 pm #4155Machine / revision: Profitec GO 2025
Country / voltage: Germany / 230V
Grinder / burrs / setting / calibration: Niche Zero; stock conical burrs; 18 on the espresso scale; calibration dot aligned.
Basket / portafilter: 18 g IMS precision basket; stock spouted portafilter (58 mm system where applicable).
Bean / roast date: Colombia Huila medium roast; roast date 2026-07-12.
Dose / yield / extraction time: 18.0 g in, 40 g out, 31 s target/current reference.
Water / temperature: bottled low-mineral water, about 55 ppm TDS; 93°C.
Exact symptom: First shot after warmup is harsh and bitter; the second is balanced with the same recipe.
Tests already performed: Run the same warm-up and empty-flush routine for three mornings and compare first-shot temperature behavior Already cleaned the obvious removable parts and repeated the test once.
Diagnostic photograph or video: close-up of the basket/puck plus a short flow video.I can make this shot look good on a timer and still taste wrong. Before I waste another bag of beans on the Profitec GO 2025, I want a second set of eyes on the setup. If the answer is boring, excellent. Boring is cheap.

Confirmed solution: A shorter warm flush and slightly coarser grind fixed it. The first shot was being hit harder than the second. I am leaving the original numbers above intact so the next person can see what changed.

Short answer: Start with the simple reproducible test before buying parts.
Applies to which model/revision: Profitec GO 2025.
Likely cause: The symptom points first to a setup, wear-part or calibration issue that can be separated from a major failure.
Test to perform next: Return one variable to a known reference, repeat twice, and record whether the symptom changes in the same direction.
Expected result: If that subsystem is the cause, the symptom should change predictably rather than randomly.
Safety limit: Do not chase the shot with unsafe pressure/temperature modifications; return to stock limits if diagnosis becomes uncertain.
Evidence: First-hand owner experience with the same model/configuration; not a manufacturer diagnosis. -

The useful documented check is the revision-specific maintenance/service sequence, not a generic espresso-machine video. For Profitec GO 2025, verify the manual procedure and part number before opening or ordering anything. If the documented test does not reproduce the fault, stop treating that subsystem as proven.

Not the exact revision, but I had a closely related setup with the same general failure mode. The thing that saved time was separating the Niche Zero / puck-prep side from the machine side instead of adjusting both together. Similar experience, not proof for your unit.

Inference only: because the symptom is repeatable and your listed tests already rule out some obvious causes, I would suspect the narrowest remaining mechanical/setup path before a board-level failure. I would not buy a part from that inference alone.

One small follow-up: repeat the test from a cold start once. Heat can hide or create a fault, and “it worked five minutes later” is useful information.

If the answer is another $80 piece of metal I am going back to tea for twelve minutes.

This is a good example of why the exact revision and test history matter. “My Profitec GO 2025 is bad” produces twenty theories; the measurements above at least give the theories somewhere to die.

please stop posting clean drip trays. Some of us are trying to live honestly.

If you can post the short video mentioned in the opening block, the sound/flow pattern may separate a normal Profitec GO 2025 noise from the fault you are describing.

Counterpoint: I would not order parts yet. The symptom still overlaps with a calibration/setup problem, and a new part can make the evidence worse.
