Grinder / burrs / setting / calibration: DF64 Gen 2 / Niche Zero; stock 64 mm flat burrs; 13 on my collar; chirp point marked with tape.
Basket / portafilter: stock double basket with paper filter; stock portafilter with double spout (58 mm system where applicable).
Bean / roast date: Costa Rica Tarrazú medium roast; roast date 2026-07-05.
Dose / yield / extraction time: 18.0 g in, 40 g out, 31 s target/current reference.
Water / temperature: bottled low-mineral water, about 55 ppm TDS; 93°C.
Exact symptom: I am deciding whether this grinder is a sensible match for the machine and roast/workflow rather than just technically capable.
Tests already performed: Compared dose workflow, noise, retention, adjustment style, local price and the current grinder’s limits.

The Profitec GO 2025 is staying. The question is whether the DF64 Gen 2 / Niche Zero is a sensible partner or the start of another completely unnecessary upgrade chain.

I used a cheaper grinder first and the upgrade was obvious mostly in repeatability. The machine did not magically become better; I just stopped fighting yesterday’s setting.
