Yeah exactly. The form is there to give you a place to start, not a magic seal of approval.
Ive seen guys get married to the story of the movement and forget to hit hard.
You can keep the shape from the form and test it on the bag or a body. If it falls apart, toss it. If it works under pressure, keep it simple and repeat it. Forms are fine for building a habit, but the bag doesnt lie. Sparring is better if you can do it safely.
Do you mean partner drills or actual sparring with forms mixed in?

Five votes should be easy here. I hope the room can tolerate both committed practitioners and skeptical people.
Same tea/batch
Direct recommendation: repeat the session with 88°C.
Applies to: Hill Window 2026 first flush / Darjeeling black tea in a setup close to porcelain pot.
Evidence: firsthand use of the same Hill Window 2026 first flush in a closely matched setup.
Change: repeat the session with 88°C.
Expected effect: the cup should move toward a repeatable breakfast-size pot if that variable is causal.
Observed result: not tested on this exact setup yet.
Limitations: This may not transfer to a heavier roast or a very different vessel size.
Commercial relationship: none.Missed the housewarming. Place is still standing, so I assume the important work got done right.
Confirmed solution: I fixed distribution and headspace first, then made one small grind change. The spraying/channeling stopped on the next repeatable shots. I am leaving the original numbers above intact so the next person can see what changed.
yeah, and nobody can fix the damn thermostat either
