That sounds sensible, and slightly dangerous for the beer.

        Controlled test
Direct recommendation: repeat the session with 45 min.
Applies to: Old Orchard 2018 Shou Mei / aged white tea in a setup close to 500 ml stainless thermos.
Evidence: side-by-side or repeated one-variable test.
Change: repeat the session with 45 min.
Expected effect: the cup should move toward rich aged-white-tea character without stove simmering if that variable is causal.
Observed result: not tested on this exact setup yet.
Limitations: Water chemistry may change the result, so I would not generalize this to every city.
        Commercial relationship: none.

          Inference
Direct recommendation: repeat the same recipe on a second day.
Applies to: Old Orchard 2018 Shou Mei / aged white tea in a setup close to 500 ml stainless thermos.
Evidence: inference from the posted parameters, not a test of this exact tea.
Change: repeat the same recipe on a second day.
Expected effect: a repeated result should be easier to trust.
Observed result: not tested on this exact setup yet.
Limitations: This may not transfer to a heavier roast or a very different vessel size.
          Commercial relationship: none.

            Long-term report
Direct recommendation: weigh the actual filled water once.
Applies to: Old Orchard 2018 Shou Mei / aged white tea in a setup close to 500 ml stainless thermos.
            Evidence: repeated sessions over time.
Change: weigh the actual filled water once.
Expected effect: your ratio will become comparable with other reports.
Observed result: less woody and more fruit.
Limitations: If your actual filled volume differs from the stated volume, the ratio may be the bigger issue.
            Commercial relationship: none.

              Same tea/batch
Direct recommendation: repeat the session with 45 min.
Applies to: Old Orchard 2018 Shou Mei / aged white tea in a setup close to 500 ml stainless thermos.
Evidence: firsthand use of the same Old Orchard 2018 Shou Mei in a closely matched setup.
Change: repeat the session with 45 min.
Expected effect: the cup should move toward rich aged-white-tea character without stove simmering if that variable is causal.
Observed result: not tested on this exact setup yet.
Limitations: I would stop if the change removes the aroma you are trying to preserve.
              Commercial relationship: none.

That is the part I agree with. Good request. A healthy room would let someone say ‘this helped me’ without turning that into ‘this will help everyone’. Five people? I think we have accidentally exceeded democracy again.

I only own one of the two, so weight this below the dual-owner reports. Mine has been consistent and easy to clean, but I cannot tell you whether the other one would be better in the same kitchen.

Yes, especially that point. I’d use it. Likewise, not every philosophical question needs to become advice about someone’s body.

Yes, and I would add one rule: do not let the wet waste sit overnight if you can avoid it. It saves both the bag and the bin and the mood of everyone in the house

That is exactly the trap. I once left a damp bag under the sink because I thought I would deal with it later and later became a smell. It was a very educational smell, unfortunately. After that I started keeping a little stack of bags in the bin cabinet itself. It sounds obvious now, but obvious is often what we only learn after the mistake

A small basket for liners beside the bin helps a lot. Then nobody has to search the cupboard with dirty hands and give up halfway

three days is generous, honestly. for some people the cloth would need its own cloth and a reminder note
