July 30, 2026 at 3:00 pm #4802Brewer and filter: Clever Dripper large; Melitta #4 paper
Grinder, burr and calibration: 1Zpresso ZP6 Special; 48 mm heptagonal burr; 5.2 from calibrated zero
Bean, roaster, process and roast date: Ethiopia Chelbesa; Tim Wendelboe; washed; roast date 2026-07-04
Dose and water mass: 15.0 g coffee; 250 g water
Temperature and water profile: 92°C; Brita-filtered tap water, about 110 ppm TDS
Pour/agitation schedule: single continuous main pour after a 45 s bloom; one small excavation with spoon only if dry pockets remain
Drawdown time: 3:20
Expected and perceived flavour: expected clean citrus and tea-like finish; perceived cup is bitter in the finish
Changes already tested: changed grind one step coarser; kept everything else fixedI am at the point where every review sounds like it was written by somebody who has already chosen a side. I want boring ownership comparisons: what you kept, what annoyed you, and whether the difference was worth paying for.

Used both daily, not just side by side for a weekend. If you value fast setup I would pick the first; if you enjoy adjusting every variable the second earns its extra fuss. Neither made bad beans interesting.

I had both on the counter at the same time. In blind cups the gap was smaller than the internet had prepared me for. Cleanup, noise and how often I had to correct the setting mattered more by month three.

I only own one of the two, so weight this below the dual-owner reports. Mine has been consistent and easy to clean, but I cannot tell you whether the other one would be better in the same kitchen.
