Yes, I think the tala is already being implied in the alap, but not as a countable thing yet. The drone and the repeated landing points train the ear to expect return, so when the pakhawaj enters it feels less like a door opening and more like a structure becoming visible.

That said, some recordings make the transition more abrupt than others, and the performer can still choose to surprise the listener a little.

I agree on the literal name. Searchable beats clever here.

That makes five. Apparently the constitutional machinery works.

I would keep the current recipe for another two brews before changing anything. One good cup can be luck; three similar cups is information.

I am less convinced by the flavour claim than the workflow claim, but that may be because my water is different.

Good, that sounds like enough actual interest to justify the room. I would keep the first version broad and let the threads tell us what needs separating.

That is the part I agree with. I want somewhere for technique questions that isn’t a social-media shouting match.

Yes, especially that point. I’d read it.

Masking tape is only half reliable for long storage, yes.

I use a pencil on the packet itself if the paper allows it, because ink can fade or smear when the room gets damp.

Perhaps. But spa conditions require controlled moisture, and the freezer is usually the opposite of that in a home kitchen.

It sounds tidy, but the result is often less so.

I think the freezer only helps when the seeds are already properly dried, so we agree on the main point. The container and desiccant do most…

                            Professional experience
Direct recommendation: air a small portion for another two weeks.
Applies to: Charcoal Lane 2025 Rou Gui / Wuyi yancha in a setup close to gaiwan.
Evidence: general brewing principle consistent with repeated tests; not this exact batch.
Change: air a small portion for another two weeks.
Expected effect: rounder roast and less sharp smoke.
Observed result: not tested on this exact setup yet.
Limitations: Water chemistry may change the result, so I would not generalize this to every city.
                            Commercial relationship: none.

I would add that the container itself should stay closed as much as possible.

People open it every week, then wonder why the packets feel tired by planting time.

                                Controlled test
Direct recommendation: use 92°C water for the first two infusions.

Evidence: side-by-side or repeated one-variable test.
Change: use 92°C water for the first two infusions.
Expected effect: less char with more spice and sweetness.
Observed result: not tested on this exact setup yet.

Yes, and I also write the source supplier if I have it.

That saved me once when two packets had the same variety name but behaved…
