Putting in a request for a martial arts forum.
I’d make it broad: kung fu, other martial arts, chi gong, forms, sparring, conditioning, training methods, history, gear, and the eternal question of whether the thing somebody’s teacher said survives contact with another human being.
I don’t want a “my style beats your style” landfill. I do want somewhere people can talk seriously about traditional practice and also ask what a movement is actually doing without everybody getting offended on behalf of a dead master.
Need four more people. Who’d use it?

Yes, make this one.

I’d use a martial arts forum. I vote for the long boring title because at least nobody has to guess what is inside.

I support it. count me in.

A dedicated room makes more sense than scattering training talk everywhere. Kung fu, other martial arts and chi gong in one room is probably enough to start.

Good, that sounds like enough actual interest to justify the room. I would keep the first version broad and let the threads tell us what needs separating

This definitely has five people

That is the part I agree with. I want somewhere for technique questions that isn’t a social-media shouting match. Likewise, people who like traditional language should not have to translate every sentence into physics.

Yes, especially that point. I’d read it.

Good request. Gear threads alone could probably keep three people employed.

i’m interested. Traditional explanations are fine, but so are mechanical ones

That is the part I agree with. Yes, provided we can talk about both traditional practice and what happens under pressure.

Yes, especially that point. I’d like a place where somebody can say ‘that doesn’t work for me’ without declaring war on a lineage. The room should allow skepticism without requiring everybody to become a skeptic.

Yes, though the title should not promise more than the forum can hold. this forum has my vote. Please keep technique, training methods and history together unless traffic proves we need more.

Right, and I’d add one thing. I know enough to have questions, which is probably the right qualification.

That sounds about right to me. Make it broad for now. People are going to argue about chi. We may as well give the argument furniture.

I’d support this. If it grows, split it later

That sounds about right to me. I’d follow this even if I mostly care about practical training. I’d like training injury and recovery questions to stay cautious rather than turn into remote diagnosis.

This definitely has five people. Forms, sparring, conditioning, history, breathing work. Seems like one coherent room.
