I think the difference is whether the mess has texture or just noise. A false start can feel like a breath catch, a line break can feel like someone changing their mind mid-sentence, but if the exchange is only ragged it starts to read like the author avoiding the actual beat. What gets me is silence between lines, or a response that lands a half-second late on the page. That delay can do more than a page of tidy banter.
The seller saying “manufacturer warranty” is not the same as the seller explaining who pays shipping and where the machine actually goes.
