      Comparable tea
Direct recommendation: break the chunk apart more before brewing.
Applies to: Old Brick Courtyard 2022 shou / ripe puer in a setup close to gaiwan.
Evidence: firsthand experience with ripe puer in a different vessel.
Change: break the chunk apart more before brewing.
Expected effect: more consistent body across infusions.
Observed result: not tested on this exact setup yet.
Limitations: This may not transfer to a heavier roast or a very different vessel size.
      Commercial relationship: none.

        Comparable tea
Direct recommendation: extend infusion three rather than increasing leaf.
Applies to: Old Brick Courtyard 2022 shou / ripe puer in a setup close to gaiwan.
Evidence: firsthand use of a comparable ripe puer with similar parameters.
Change: extend infusion three rather than increasing leaf.
Expected effect: better body in the middle infusions without an over-heavy first cup.
Observed result: not tested on this exact setup yet.
Limitations: Water chemistry may change the result, so I would not generalize this to every city.
        Commercial relationship: none.

That tracks with my experience. The useful part is that you wrote down what stayed fixed, so somebody else can actually test it.

This is close to my own preference. I would rather write three rules people remember than twelve rules people learn only after breaking them.

The cleanup detail matters more than reviews admit. A tool used every day gets judged in the sink as much as in the cup.

Yes, I think this would help. i’m interested even if I mostly know the music from listening rather than practice. A pinned beginner thread could stop the same three questions from multiplying forever.

I hope the forum remains welcoming to people who know a little and want to know more. Expertise is useful; intimidation is not.

A simple ‘tested’ marker on replies might become useful later, especially when the original poster returns.

                      That distinction matters, I think,
because the book keeps treating procedure like a weather system.

Congratulations. It is good to have a new place where the shelves are still mostly empty and nobody has misplaced anything yet.
