That blanket has seen things, and none of them were on tempo.
July 29, 2026 at 7:21 pm in reply to: Tango for people who are not ready to suffer professionally #1063I disagree a little, because even the sad stuff can be a great road record if the pulse is there. The trick is not to buy the ultra-dramatic compilations, those sell misery like it is craft beer.

July 25, 2026 at 2:02 pm in reply to: AeroPress Original + 1Zpresso K-Ultra: subscription fatigue #4756Foreign and older report, so this belongs lower in the pile. The coffee itself was excellent, but transit changed the resting window enough that my recipe notes are probably not portable to your order.
The useful documented check is the revision-specific maintenance/service sequence, not a generic espresso-machine video. For Gaggia Classic E24 2024, verify the manual procedure and part number before opening or ordering anything. If the documented test does not reproduce the fault, stop treating that subsystem as proven.
I would keep the current recipe for another two brews before changing anything. One good cup can be luck; three similar cups is information.
Professional experience
Direct recommendation: increase leaf slightly to 4.5 g and shorten to 3 minutes.
Applies to: Rain Porch 2026 Assam second flush / black tea in a setup close to ceramic mug with basket.
Evidence: firsthand experience with black tea in a different vessel.
Change: increase leaf slightly to 4.5 g and shorten to 3 minutes.
Expected effect: fuller aroma and body with less late extraction.
Observed result: not tested on this exact setup yet.
Limitations: If your actual filled volume differs from the stated volume, the ratio may be the bigger issue.
Commercial relationship: none.Controlled test
Direct recommendation: drop temperature to 92°C while keeping 3:30.
Applies to: Rain Porch 2026 Assam second flush / black tea in a setup close to ceramic mug with basket.
Evidence: side-by-side or repeated one-variable test.
Change: drop temperature to 92°C while keeping 3:30.
Expected effect: similar body with a softer bitter edge.
Observed result: not tested on this exact setup yet.
Limitations: My result is from a small number of sessions, so treat it as evidence rather than law.
Commercial relationship: none. This is exactly the kind of note I want in a forum: date, setup, what changed, and what happened. Future searchers can do something with it.
I am less convinced by the flavour claim than the workflow claim, but that may be because my water is different.
That tracks with my experience. The useful part is that you wrote down what stayed fixed, so somebody else can actually test it.
My technical contribution is that “one last upgrade” is not a measurable quantity.
Comparable tea
Direct recommendation: reduce first steep to 15 seconds and smell the lid immediately.
Applies to: Cloud Pass 2026 Qingxin / Taiwan high-mountain oolong in a setup close to gaiwan.
Evidence: firsthand use of a comparable Taiwan high-mountain oolong with similar parameters.
Change: reduce first steep to 15 seconds and smell the lid immediately.
Expected effect: brighter high notes and less cooked-green character.
Observed result: not tested on this exact setup yet.
Limitations: My result is from a small number of sessions, so treat it as evidence rather than law.
Commercial relationship: none.Do not spend the whole budget on the machine and leave the grinder as an apology. The Niche Zero side of this setup matters every morning.
