The withheld bits are doing real work there not just being coy. You feel the gaps like missing prep steps and then the whole thing snaps together.
Yep, it made me slow down. Which was the point, I think. rough book, but in a good way.
I do not think it wants total uncertainty. It wants you to keep sorting the evidence instead of calling the case closed.
How much uncertainty depends on how much you trust the narrator or yourself.
If either one is shaky, the whole thing needs a slower simmer.
