the metal tooth ones sound like the sweet spot, yeah. not glamorous but if they stop the whole desk collapsing into spaghetti, that’s enough for me.
Yes, exactly. And the late grind makes a huge difference too, in my experience. I once used pre-ground Sichuan pepper and it was basically dusty lemon peel with a personality crisis. Whole pepper toasted and crushed at the end gave me something much more alive.
A dry pan first usually seems to wake spices up a bit.

That is a good way of putting it.
i’d actually push back a bit on that. the sewn loop ones are fine if you never change the setup, but once you’re adding chargers or swapping devices, they’re a nuisance. the velcro types are uglier maybe, but less annoying day to day.
that’s the bit i was going to say too. the metal tab ones cost a bit more but not remotely forty quid, and they don’t feel like a gimmick.
i use them behind my own desk and they do the job without asking for a ceremony.
yeah, the velcro ones are grand if you keep changing things. if the cables stay put, the little buckle style is neater but still not fancy.
velcro straps are probably the boring answer and maybe that’s why they work. if you want something tidier, look for the ones with a metal tooth inside the buckle. cheap ones snap open once the desk gets moved a few times.
That sounds like the sort of thing that becomes obvious only after you’ve bought three disappointing packs. At least the dust is doing something useful for once, I suppose.
same problem here, and the ones with the little teeth usually give up fast.
I’ve had better luck with the wider velcro straps, honestly.

People with professional experience should be able to say so without becoming the forum’s unpaid help desk. Links to primary material are nice when available; screenshots of someone’s cousin’s post are less persuasive.
The place already feels less like a platform and more like a room people might actually stay in. That may be the nicest thing I can say about a website.
I freeze dal in smaller containers and it seems to come back better than when I freeze one enormous tub of it. No idea if there’s actual science behind that or if I’m just giving the freezer less opportunity to ruin my dinner.
Also I usually stop cooking it a bit earlier if I know some is going in the freezer.
