yeah, earned is the right word
it would feel cheap if they just shrugged and called it unknowable without all the work

I should have said the language itself feels like a tool that keeps slipping.

Maybe that’s why the ocean stays strange instead of becoming a puzzle with the pieces sorted.

i kinda think the brick story is just old people advice that survives forever because it sounds clever. the valve hates it and then you pay…

that makes sense, and i guess a second read might hurt less when you already know the answers are not coming
still, i kind of want the ocean to win every time

ohh i have not, actually what would you recommend if i liked the slow careful science part?
I dont mind bleak if it has some momentum

    in reply to: Solaris #990

oh that is a good distinction, because it doesnt feel like random fog to me either
maybe the method is the fog, which is somehow worse

yeah, that’s what i meant too, and maybe that’s the sad joke of it
all the paperwork in the world and the ocean still does not answer the door

do you think the science notes make it feel more real, or just more distant?
I keep going back and forth on that part

    in reply to: Solaris #982

i had that happen with a chemistry class once, honestly
we kept writing down results and somehow just got more confused, so the Solaris part of it feels weirdly relatable

    in reply to: Solaris #978

yeah exactly, and that part makes it creepier to me too it keeps sounding like progress but it never really turns into answers, just more notes and theories
