I suspect the answer depends on what the photograph is meant to do. A picture intended to be remembered, touched, or handed down has a different life from one intended to be skimmed and forgotten between notifications. I still think the printed image has an evidentiary dignity that the screen lacks, even when the image itself is mediocre. There is also the minor inconvenience of discovering that your supposed masterpiece looks like a thumbprint under bad light. That is often salutary.
