Machine / revision: exact model, revision or production variant
Country / voltage: country and mains voltage
Grinder / burrs / setting / calibration: grinder, burr set, current setting and how zero/calibration was established
Basket / portafilter: size, basket model and portafilter type
Bean / roast date: coffee and roast date
Dose / yield / extraction time: measured recipe, not “about a double”
Water / temperature: water source/mineral approach and brew temperature if known
Exact symptom: what the machine actually does
Tests already performed: what you changed, measured or ruled out
Diagnostic photograph or video: what you can show that would reduce guessing

Start equipment topics with the technical block above. Keep it at the top, then talk like a person. The block is there so nobody has to pull the machine, voltage, grinder and recipe out of you six replies later.

Titles do not need to read like service tickets. “My Bambino has chosen violence” is fine if the post itself says which Bambino, where it lives and what it is doing.

For troubleshooting: say what you actually observed, separate first-hand experience from inference, and come back when something works. Do not tell strangers to bypass thermal cutoffs, GFCI/RCD protection, pressure safety devices or other electrical/boiler protections. If the safe next step is a technician, say that plainly.

Photos and short diagnostic clips are strongly encouraged when they help. No affiliate-link dumps, no pretending a different revision is identical, and no turning every purchase question into a sermon about your own setup.

We will add structure only when it solves a real problem. A few suggestions are intentionally postponed until we see how the forum is actually used.

Could the post box just insert that block automatically? people are absolutely going to forget half of it otherwise.

Good suggestion. Postponed for now. I want to see which fields people actually omit before we automate the form and make everybody scroll past ten boxes they do not need.

I would also require the model name at the start of every title. Search will be easier later.

Also postponed. I want the model name somewhere in the title, but I do not want seventy threads beginning with the same machine name like a spare-parts catalogue. Human titles are allowed.

thank you. “Breville Bambino Plus problem #47” is how forums turn into municipal archives.

Can we make electrical safety language non-negotiable? If it trips protection twice, nobody should be coaching the owner through bypassing it.

Yes. That one is active now, not postponed. Safety devices stay safety devices.

A solved/confirmed marker would be useful once there are enough repair threads. It would make the first useful answer easier to find.

Agreed in principle, postponed in implementation. For now the questioner should return and write “Confirmed solution:” so the resolution is searchable without adding another plugin/state system.

Maybe require photos for leaks and puck problems? Half the vocabulary around “spraying” is subjective.

Strongly encouraged, not mandatory. Sometimes the useful evidence is a serial label, pressure reading or ten-second sound clip. The rule is reduce guessing, not upload media for ceremony.

what if the machine is haunted. asking before the rules get too rigid

List the exact revision, voltage and exorcist. We will take it from there.
