August 27, 2026 at 9:56 pm #4939Brewer and filter: Bodum Chambord 1 L French press; stock metal mesh
Grinder, burr and calibration: Fellow Ode Gen 2; Gen 2 flat burrs; 5.1; chirp point checked
Bean, roaster, process and roast date: Colombia Huila Sidra; Manhattan Coffee Roasters; washed; roast date 2026-08-18
Dose and water mass: 20.0 g coffee; 333 g water
Temperature and water profile: 94°C; filtered tap water, about 85 ppm TDS
Pour/agitation schedule: single continuous main pour after a 45 s bloom; one small excavation with spoon only if dry pockets remain
Drawdown time: 2:35
Expected and perceived flavour: expected floral sweetness and clear acidity; perceived cup is flatter and drier than expected
Changes already tested: reduced agitation; kept dose, water and temperature fixedA repeatable cup is more useful to me than a heroic cup. Here is the version I can reproduce; if you try it, please change one thing at a time and say what moved.

I would keep the current recipe for another two brews before changing anything. One good cup can be luck; three similar cups is information.

The cleanup detail matters more than reviews admit. A tool used every day gets judged in the sink as much as in the cup.

This is exactly the kind of note I want in a forum: date, setup, what changed, and what happened. Future searchers can do something with it.

I understood all of this until the third pour and then spiritually became instant coffee.
