3 months and still alive. which for my electronics is basically a long marriage

Get hooks or fins, honestly. Sweat turns regular earbuds into tiny escape artists.

Yep, this. I had a cheap pair that lasted fine on the bus, then the gym made them launch out mid-set. Swapping to ones with little wing tips fixed it immediately, which felt rude to my old earbuds but there we are.

Same here, the fit matters more than the sound in gym. I use silicone tips with a smaller size and they stay put much better, even when I’m sweaty.

I don’t agree that tips alone solve it. If the housing is slick and heavy, sweat wins anyway, like a ticket queue with worse friction.

Clip style or hooks usually beat ā€œbetter sealā€ marketing.

Yes, hooks are better for most people. But if you already own the pair, smaller tips can still help a lot before buying new ones.

lol yeah, the gym really tests every tiny design sin.

My last pair only failed on burpees, which feels personal somehow.

Exactly, the earbud does a little drama exit and acts like it’s a feature.

Do you need them for running too, or mostly lifting?

For running you need a tighter fit. For lifting almost anything with a good seal works.

Been there, yep. One ear always gets the bad idea first.

Look for something with ear hooks or little stabilizer fins, and sweat resistance rated at least IPX4, maybe IPX5 if you really drip. Cheap options exist from JLab, Soundcore, Anker, JBL, and some Samsung models when on sale. The key part is shape, not audio marketing. If the nozzle is short and smooth, it will still walk out of your ear eventually. Also try foam tips if your current buds use standard silicone tips, they grip better when damp. Not glamorous, but neither is chasing an earbud across the gym floor.

Your earbuds are auditioning for freedom, apparently.

Ha, yes. Mine did that too until I changed the tips, so it’s not always the earbuds being junk.
