July 26, 2026 at 8:59 pm #4174Machine / revision: Lelit Mara X V2 2024
Country / voltage: Ireland / 230V
Grinder / burrs / setting / calibration: DF64 Gen 2; stock 64 mm flat burrs; 11 on my collar; chirp point marked with tape.
Basket / portafilter: stock double basket with paper filter; stock portafilter with double spout (58 mm system where applicable).
Bean / roast date: Guatemala Huehuetenango medium roast; roast date 2026-07-20.
Dose / yield / extraction time: 19.0 g in, 38 g out, 30 s target/current reference.
Water / temperature: filter-jug water from moderately hard tap; factory brew temperature after a 10-minute preheat.
Exact symptom: Medium roast still tastes sharp and hollow at the current ratio.
Tests already performed: Try the same puck at a slightly higher temperature or longer ratio, changing one variable only Already cleaned the obvious removable parts and repeated the test once.
Diagnostic photograph or video: photo of the grinder setting and a short shot video. The numbers look respectable and the cup does not. The Lelit Mara X V2 2024 has therefore chosen to make this personal. Medium roast still tastes sharp and hollow at the current ratio.

Confirmed solution: I kept the dose fixed, went a little finer and extended the yield. The sour edge disappeared without changing three things at once. I am leaving the original numbers above intact so the next person can see what changed.

Short answer: Start with the simple reproducible test before buying parts.
Applies to which model/revision: Lelit Mara X V2 2024.
Likely cause: The symptom points first to a setup, wear-part or calibration issue that can be separated from a major failure.
Test to perform next: Return one variable to a known reference, repeat twice, and record whether the symptom changes in the same direction.
Expected result: If that subsystem is the cause, the symptom should change predictably rather than randomly.
Safety limit: Do not chase the shot with unsafe pressure/temperature modifications; return to stock limits if diagnosis becomes uncertain.
Evidence: First-hand owner experience with the same model/configuration; not a manufacturer diagnosis.-

The useful documented check is the revision-specific maintenance/service sequence, not a generic espresso-machine video. For Lelit Mara X V2 2024, verify the manual procedure and part number before opening or ordering anything. If the documented test does not reproduce the fault, stop treating that subsystem as proven.

Not the exact revision, but I had a closely related setup with the same general failure mode. The thing that saved time was separating the DF64 Gen 2 / puck-prep side from the machine side instead of adjusting both together. Similar experience, not proof for your unit.

If you can post the short video mentioned in the opening block, the sound/flow pattern may separate a normal Lelit Mara X V2 2024 noise from the fault you are describing.

One small follow-up: repeat the test from a cold start once. Heat can hide or create a fault, and “it worked five minutes later” is useful information.

Inference only: because the symptom is repeatable and your listed tests already rule out some obvious causes, I would suspect the narrowest remaining mechanical/setup path before a board-level failure. I would not buy a part from that inference alone.

This is a good example of why the exact revision and test history matter. “My Lelit Mara X V2 2024 is bad” produces twenty theories; the measurements above at least give the theories somewhere to die.

For what it is worth, please stop posting clean drip trays. Some of us are trying to live honestly

I had a similar issue but not the same revision. Mine ended up being embarrassingly simple, so I would keep the easy checks alive until the evidence kills them.

For what it is worth, if the answer is another $80 piece of metal I am going back to tea for twelve minutes

For what it is worth, my technical contribution is that “one last upgrade” is not a measurable quantity.

The useful bit in this thread is that nobody has to guess which Lelit Mara X V2 2024 or DF64 Gen 2 is involved. Half of repair advice goes bad before that point.
